At just 13 years old, Sanukanchhi, a Grade 5 student at Shree Gyan Jyoti Basic School in Bakaiya Rural Municipality–3, is determined to continue her education despite significant challenges. After losing her father at a young age, she was raised by her mother, who struggles to support the family. Every morning, Sanukanchhi helps with household chores and grazes the family’s goats before walking 30 minutes to school.
Financial hardship once put her education at risk. Attending school with worn-out clothes and an old school bag affected her confidence, and dropping out seemed a real possibility.
Everything changed when Esther Benjamin Memorial Foundation (EBMF) provided her with bursary support, including a school uniform, a school bag, and essential stationery. The support restored her confidence and enabled her to continue her education with dignity and renewed motivation.
Today, Sanukanchhi is an active and hardworking student who dreams of becoming a teacher so she can help children facing challenges like her own. While her family continues to face financial difficulties, EBMF remains committed to supporting her education.
Sanukanchhi’s journey reminds us that timely educational support can do more than provide school supplies, it can keep a child in school, restore hope, and open the door to a brighter future.
